About The Firm

Nearly Three Decades of Focused Practice

Prescott & Vane LLP was founded on the belief that sophisticated legal counsel and genuine personal attention are not mutually exclusive.

Our Story

Founded on Direct Access and Rigorous Preparation

Prescott & Vane LLP was founded in 1998 by Eleanor Prescott and Marcus Vane, two litigators who met as young associates at a large New York firm and shared a common frustration: clients were paying for expertise they rarely got to speak with directly. They set out to build something different—a firm small enough that every client works with an experienced attorney from the first phone call, yet resourced enough to handle sophisticated corporate, real estate, and litigation matters.

Nearly thirty years later, that founding principle still shapes how we practice. We have deliberately kept our roster small, adding attorneys only when we can maintain the level of attention our clients expect. The result is a firm that has grown steadily through referrals rather than advertising, with many client relationships spanning decades and, in some cases, generations.

Today, Prescott & Vane LLP advises individuals, families, and closely held businesses across corporate, real estate, family, estate planning, litigation, and employment matters—always with the same direct-access philosophy the firm was founded on.

What Guides Us

Our Mission & Values

Our mission is straightforward: deliver sophisticated legal counsel with the clarity, responsiveness, and candor every client deserves. Four principles guide how we practice.

Integrity First

We tell clients what they need to hear, not what's easiest to say, and we hold every engagement to the same ethical standard.

Meticulous Preparation

Favorable outcomes are built long before a negotiation or hearing begins. We prepare accordingly.

Genuine Partnership

We take time to understand what a successful outcome actually looks like for each client, not just the legal issue on paper.

Measured Judgment

Not every dispute belongs in a courtroom. We advise honestly on when to negotiate, when to settle, and when to fight.

Inside The Firm

A Culture Built Around Craft

Behind every client matter is a team that takes preparation seriously. Attorneys and staff work closely across practice groups, reviewing filings, stress-testing strategy, and sharing the kind of institutional knowledge that only comes from staying together for years rather than rotating through.

We invest deliberately in continuing education, mentorship for junior associates, and the unglamorous work—research, drafting, follow-up calls—that clients rarely see but always benefit from.

  • Continuing legal education completed by every attorney, every year
  • A structured associate-to-partner mentorship program
  • Regular cross-practice case review, so no matter is handled in isolation
